Researchers such as environmental psychologist Arline Bronzaft have shown that urban sounds affect urban dwellers both physically and mentally. As sound is transmitted through a range of wavelengths and vibrations, continuously experiencing high-pitched or loud sound frequencies in urban surroundings could permanently impair hearing ability.
